People use resources such as ROCKS for:

• Mining - rocks & soil contain minerals (gold, diamonds)

• Heat/Electricity - burning coal

• Chemicals from coal are used in many industries

• To grow food and forests

People use SOIL to:

• To mine for rocks

• To raise animals

• Grow food and forests

People use AIR to:

• Deep sea dive

• Transport - airplanes, helicopters

• Get rid of waste gasses/poisonous fumes

• For machines to work

People use WATER to:

• Keep crops & animals alive

• Drinking, washing, sewage

• To make things in factories or clean things in mines

• Fish live in water

• Get rid of gas pollution

There are 7 billion people on earth. When humans OVER USE resources in a harmful/damaging way we call it....

Humans abuse natural resources by:

• Polluting the air

• Cutting down too many trees

• Spending too much time together

• Oil spills

• Pollution in water

Having more people in the world means that more resources are used up because:

• People plant more trees

• Resources may not be replenished in time and become extinct

• The demand will outweigh the supply

What organization in South Africa is trying to teach people about fishing methods that do not abuse the fish resources?

• SASSF - a school that teaches people how to fish
