Following Mansa Musa's death, the Mali kingdom lost a lot of its influence and was eventually replaced by independent chiefdoms.
They were eventually colonized by the British, who disbanded the kingdom and took all of the resources for themselves.
It was all internal factors such as revolutions from within the kingdom that eventually overthrew the government.
Kingdoms always rise and fall, it was just their time to pass their influence on to another regime.
