• Ask a classmate or friend to help hold down the work.

What tools do you use to attach 2 pieces of lumber together?

• A clamp, Drill, Sometimes Glue and a Screwdriver

What are the steps to attaching to end pieces of lumber together?

• Find a piece of wood that is about the same length, then hold it down and using the screwdriver to screw the end together about the way that looks good. 

• Clamping the end pieces together on the workbench, then using the drill to create a pilot hole, apply a small amount of glue to the end and using a screwdriver to screw the end together with a screw.

What are some tool safety tips for all power tools?

• Never carry by the cord, never pull by the cord to disconnect, check to see the cord is not cut or frayed.

• Keep tools plugged in when not using, have power turned on when plugging into power, connect power to service a tool

What are three basic hand tool rules?

• Keep tools in good condition, use tools for only their intended purpose, do not force tools beyond

       their capacity

•  Use tools as  “cheaters”  to accomplish a task,  hold work in your hand when using a screwdriver,
