What is an Extraneous solution?

• A crazy answer.

• An answer that is obtained by solving the problem and when you check it it does work.

When you are solving a radical equation. How will you know you will end up having to factor in the process?

• You will have to divide both sides by something

Select the equation that you have to move something over to get the radical by itself before you can take it to the power.

Select the choice that you are able to start squaring as the first step

• Move the radical on the left to the right?

• Take both sides to the power of 2

• Move the radical from the left side to the right side. Then square.

• Square both sides.

• Cube both sides.
