What is the role of an FYEC?

• To help new teachers with their subjects at The College and to provide them with support throughout their time there.

• To help new students with the content of subjects at The College.

• To ensure students have a smooth transition into The College and to provide them with support throughout their time there.

How do you report an issue with a student to their FYEC?

• With the FYEC Referral Form (link in Virtual Staffroom)

• In an email

• In the cafeteria when you bump into them

How many Student Challenges are there?

Locate the Intervention Procedure in Virtual Staffroom.

You need to send emails need to:

• students who miss any assessment.

• students who do not attempt the first low risk assessment.

• students whose attendance and marks are low.

Can teachers give students extensions on their assessments?

• Yes - up to 5 days.

• No. They must apply for Disruption to Studies.

• Yes - up to 7 days.

• No. This is not allowed. Only the LTC can.

How and when should a student ask a teacher for an extension?

• Orally in class before the assessment is due.

• Before the assessment is due, in an email (a reason needed if requesting 3-5 days).

• Any time with a substantial amount of grovelling.

• Any time within a week of the assessment being due.
