SMS STAAR Training 2022

On the morning of the test the Testing Administrators should:

• Review testing tickets or count booklets and verify answer docs. Then initial out on the Materials Control Form.

• Do all three of these!!

• Use only supplies from the testing bucket.

• Start the test no later than 8:15.

The following materials may be given during the test to any student who benefits from them if the student asks:

• sharpened pencil

• scratch paper

• highlighter

• all of the above

If I have a student with an accommodation, I can expect …

• to help students use their accomm.

• to tell the student when to use their accomm.

• to have a form with the accomms. listed & materials as listed on the form.

• student will bring in their own accomm.

An appropriate response for a student who asks a question about test content is:

• You're crazy if you you think I'm helping you!!

• Let me rephrase that for you to help you better understand .

• I can't answer that for you, just do the best you can.

• Say WHAT?????

The following is an allowable device to monitor the time limit according:

• Apple Watch

• Clock

• Cell Phone

• All of the above

The following is included in the description of "active monitoring":

• Encouraging students to stay on task

• Focusing attention on students and not elsewhere 

• Walking around to better observe what students are doing

• All of the above

Breaks are allowed during the 4 hour testing window.  Which of these activities would stop the clock?

• snack break

• student falls asleep

• bathroom break

• lunch, emergencies, movement of students, or medical breaks

When a student has finished a test, he/she may... 

• lay on the floor under their desk and relax

• turn in the test and then read a book.

• begin the next day's test.

A violation of STAAR testing security and confidentiality can result in the all of the following EXCEPT

• a restriction of your certificate

• relocation to Siberia

• a reprimand

• Suspension and revocation of your certificate
