Jenny invited Katy to her house for a special dinner. Katy wanted to bring a thank-you gift with her. She wandered out to the flower garden to think. The roses and the other flowers looked so beautiful. Suddenly Katy knew what to bring with her.

Olivia dressed hurriedly and rushed to brush her teeth. Then heading downstairs, she grabbed her backpack and jacket and tumbled into the kitchen. Her mother looked up from her cup of tea as Olivia announced, “I’m going to miss the bus for school!”

I read about the high school teams in your newspaper, but not about the younger teams. This is completely unfair to the younger students. They work just as hard as the older teams. Please give space in your newspaper to teams of all ages.

My favorite stories often take place in worlds different from our own, but the plots are easy to relate to. The characters may be aliens, but they act very human. They have the same hopes and fears as human characters in realistic stories. In many ways, these strange worlds are designed to reflect things that happen in our own.

“Thanks, Pearl, I’m certainly glad to contribute, but it took the whole team to win this tournament,” said Susan.
