MULTIPLE CHOICE QUESTION

15 mins • 1 pt

Select the best summary of paragraphs 1-6 of the passage

Robert used to think of birds that flew high in the sky, above the clouds, and he dreamed of flying creatures such as dragons and pterodactyls, at night. But each day he walked the city streets and rode the city subway, far away from the animals he loved so much.

When robert was young, he dreamed of hawks, eagles, ospreys, and falcons. But when he looked up at the sky, he would only see a sliver of blue. He started to study birds and learn how they flew. His parents told him to stop but he did not because it was the most important thing in the world to him.

As a little boy, Robert loved to imagine soaring birds and dream of flying creatures, but he never saw the birds he loved because he lived in the city. As he grew, he focused on his studies and learned all that he could about birds, airplanes, and human flight, despite the wishes of his parents.

Robert loved birds, and so he set out to learn everything about them, including how they flew. This led to studies about human flight and airplanes. Robert excelled in his studies but his family did not understand why he pursued them. Still, he vowed to continue on the path he had set for himself.

MULTIPLE SELECT QUESTION

15 mins • 1 pt

PART B:

Select the 2 sentences from the passage the best help develop the theme in Part A

Sometimes, even as he was older- a college student now, living in a cramped dorm room with three other boys his age- Robert would drift off to sleep imagining that big open sky filled with hawks and ospreys and dragons

He knew it was silly, but he held on to that image because it filled him with hope for something he couldn't quite name

One day, I will fly like the hawk and the eagle and the falcon, high above the clouds; Robert would say to no one other than himself.

The college Robert attended was also in the city, and he hadn't found a way to travel outside of it yet.

He still could only dream about that big, blue fireld above, but every day he worked toward making that dream a reality.
