Heather lives in Kansas where there are a lot of tornadoes.

How does she adapt to her environment?

• She bought rainboots, rain jackets, and an umbrella.

• She waits in the basement of her house away from the windows.

Galveston is located next to the Gulf of Mexico and is in danger of hurricanes destroying their city.

How must people who live here adapt to their environment?

• They adapted by buying a home with a basement.

Marc just moved to Minnesota where it snows a lot during the winter.

How must Marc adapt to his new environment?

• During the winter, he adapted by waking up at 5:00am, so he could shovel the snow off of the sidewalk in front of his house.

• They adapt by building houses out of mud.

• He has to adapt to a new environment by shopping for shorts, flip flops and sunscreen.
