A student heard that there are unnatural chemicals usually used by the seller to ripen the fruits faster. This student thinks that it must be unhealthy for the human body. Therefore, he started to do research and found out that apple can ripen fruits faster naturally because they produce a gas called ethylene, which is a natural plant hormone that sets off the ripening process.
After following the steps needed, this students conducted an experiment to find out whether three types of apples (Fuji, Winesap, Rambo) of the same age can equally make banana ripen faster. He prepared 9 containers. Each of the containers was filled with the same type of unripe banana and an apple. Here is the detail: the FIRST container was filled with the unripe banana and a Fuji apple. The same treatment was done with the SECOND and the THIRD containers. These three containers are labeled with A. This student continued to fill the next containers, which were the FOURTH, the FIFTH, and the SIXTH, with the unripe banana and a Winesap apple. These three containers were labeled with B. The last three containers which were the SEVENTH, the EIGHTH, and the NINTH were labeled with C and were treated the same. Each of them was filled with a banana and an apple, but the type of apple was also different from the other groups. The apple used in these containers was the Rambo apple. These were the last three containers.
These all containers were then put in the same room and left there for four days. After four days had passed, this student checked them and then noted down the result. He noted that all of the bananas already turning yellow.
