Intern Training Quiz

Summer camp is for students first through 8th grade. Each day students will go to the following classes, dance, voice, stage combat, acting, & visual arts. As an intern, you will be required to participate and assist with classes. Which class are you most excited about?

During classes, students may need to go to the restroom. Interns are responsible for escorting students to and from the student restrooms. All students must have a buddy present for liability reasons. Pick the best scenario with Intern Taylor...

• Callie has to use the restroom and needs help pulling up her pants. Intern, Taylor, enters the restroom and pulls up her pants for Callie.

• Derrick needs to use the restroom. No one else in his class has to go. Taylor takes Derrick to the restroom area alone.

• Taylor overhears Alma and Grace talking in the restroom. Alma seems to have been peeping underneath the stall. Taylor does not notify an adult of the incident immediately.

• Taylor takes Jacob and Russ to the restroom. Waits outside the door. When the boys finish and exit the restroom, Taylor checks the bathroom for trash on the floor & water running. Once everything is clear students and Taylor return to their class.

Students will receive several snack breaks throughout the day. Counselors & Interns will distribute 2 snacks to the students daily. Use this time to eat a snack, and use the restroom. Take turns with other interns & counselors running groups to the restroom during this time. Of the following, what snack sounds best to you?

Performance based classes will be working towards a final presentation held for student's familes on Friday. It is important that interns learn the materials to help guide students and potentially understudy if a student is absent. Friday, the schedule will change after lunch, where we will set up chairs for the audience, display the visual art projects and hold a rehearsal before the performances at 3:15-4:15. During breaks students are allowed to play on the playset. Interns are encouraged to participate in games with the students, but if students are not making safe choices (climbing up the slide, standing on a swing, throwing a ball at someone's face...) you are responsible for politely yet assertively asking students to stop the dangerous behavior. If a student is not listening please let an adult know. If a student is _____ you please tell the counselor so that we can fill out a report. First Aid kits are located in the pingpong room & the art room. Counselors will also have bandaids in their binders.

Interns & counselors are responsible for maintaining a safe and clean learning environment at all times. Select which duties are required of interns...

• Sweeping the main hall and main room of dust, dirt and food particles during before care, after lunch and during aftercare.

• Wiping down tables, benches and other materials before lunch and during aftercare.

• Checking restrooms for trash on the floor and clogged sinks. If there is a biohazard mess please see Caylen or Dewey.

• Asking students to clean the art room after visual art class is over and assisting in the cleaning process.

• Assisting with the deep clean on Friday after the final performance.

After students are finished with lunch, they have picked up their trash and have packed up their lunch boxes Interns will host an Open Mic. Interns are responsible for creating a sign up sheet during lunch, playing school appropriate music for students who are singing and dancing, and hyping up each performer. Interns are encouraged to perform as well. What would you perform for Open Mic?

During before and aftercare interns are asked to play camp games with the students who are present. The games usually played are, Statues, Zip Zap Zop, and Simon Says. We encourage interns to learn new group games to play with students. Draw your best duck (for Duck Duck Goose.)

During the first class of the day interns will receive a thirty minute professional development class. This class will provide team building exercises, professional theatre advice, and daily challenges. Are there any topics, or questions that you have about professional theatre or jobs in general? An example question could be, "How do you write a resume?"
