8-15-22 - Class Expectations and Procedures

Ms. Holloway is mean and scary.

• Yes! Totally! I will fear for my life everyday when I come to her class.

• Not really. She's firm, but fair; and she can actually be kinda cool, if we follow her expectations.

• I don't know. I haven't gotten a feel for how she is yet, but I've heard some things and I'm kinda scared.

• Nah. It's just all hype.

I can just walk into the classroom at the beginning at class.

• No. I have to wait in a quiet, single-file line for permission to enter.

When I come into the room at the beginning of class, that's the time for me to play around and talk to my classmates (I haven't talked to them all day)

I need to put a piece of paper in the trash can or I need to get some hand sanitizer. I can get up and do that right quick.

• If I do so quickly.

• Sure, why not? I need some hand sanitizer.

• I put my trash in the trash can as I am leaving at the end of class, and I get my sanitizer as I enter the room (unless Ms. Holloway determines it's necessary for me to get hand sanitizer during class).

• No way! I don't want to get "the look" or get my feelings hurt!

The principal, a classmate, or Ms. Jacobs is at the door. I can get up and open it.

• If I'm sitting close to the door, I can get up and open it.

• I'm going to race my classmates to the door to be the first one to open it.

• I'll let Ms. Holloway know who is at the door and she will tell me if I can open the door.

My water bottle is empty and I'm thirsty. I can go refill my water bottle if I raise my hand and ask permission.

• If the principal or another teacher says it's okay I can do it.
