The Circulatory System

The largest artery in the body.

It is a tough, double-layered, fibrous sac that encloses the heart.

The two upper chambers of the heart which functions to receive blood either from the body or the lungs

It carries oxygenated blood away from the heart to the cells, tissues and organs of the body.

A large vein that receives blood from the head, neck, upper extremities, and thorax and delivers it to the right atrium of the heart.

The middle layer of the heart which is composed mainly of muscles

(muscular layer) of the heart.

The wall that divides the left and right side of the heart to prevent the mixing of oxygen-rich and oxygen-poor blood.

The smallest blood vessels in the body, connecting the smallest arteries to the smallest veins. This is where gases and nutrients are exchanged.

It carries deoxygenated blood towards the heart.
