• Sunnah refers all tellers from the Prophet : his act, his saying & whatever he has tacitly approved

Characteristic of Sunnah...EXCEPT

• žSunnah do not consists rulings on which AQ is silent about it.

• žSunnah consists of rules that confirms, re emphasises/reiterates the AQ.

• žSunnah consists of an explanation or clarification to the AQ.

• žSunnah qualifies the unqualified verses of Al Quran and specifies the general injunctions of Al Quran.

Sunnah Qauliyyah means...

• 1.all prophet’s deeds & actions : religious, commercial, administration, family matters & etc. eg : prayer & hajj.

• tacit approval. Eg: Khalid Al Walid ate dhab.

• understanding of sahabah about prayers

• 1.every saying of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) to explain about a ruling or to inform the ppl of what to do & what should not. It is also known as al khabar.

Sunnah Fi’liyah : all prophet’s deeds & actions : religious, commercial, administration, family matters & etc.

A continous hadith is one which has a complete chain of transmission fr the last narrator all the way back to the Prophet called transmission.

Hadith Mutawatir means...

• ›A hadith, reported by an indifinite number of ppl in such a way that precludes the possibility of their agreement to perpetuate lie. Such possibility is inconceivable owing to their large number, diversity of residence & reliability.

• ›A hadith, not reported by an indifinite number of ppl in such a way that precludes the possibility of their agreement to perpetuate lie. Such possibility is conceivable owing to their large number, diversity of residence & reliability.

• A hadith, which is originally reported by one, two or more companions fr the Prophet or from another companion but has later become well-known & transmitted by an indefinite number of ppl.

• A hadith which is reported by a single person.

Hadith Mursal (discontinued) means ...

• ›A hadith, reported by an indifinite number of ppl in such a way that precludes the possibility of their agreement to perpetuate lie. Such possibility is inconceivable owing to their large number, diversity of residence & reliability.

• A hadith whose chain of transmitters does not extend all the way back to the Prophet. It is a hadith which the successor has directly attributed to the Prophet without mentioning the last link, namely the companion who might hv narrated it fr the Prophet.

• A hadith which is reported by a single person.

• A hadith, which is originally reported by one, two or more companions fr the Prophet or from another companion but has later become well-known & transmitted by an indefinite number of ppl.
