Why is knowing the lab values important in Phlebotomy?

• It does not concern the Phlebotomist.

• Critical Lab values are imperative (important) to patient care, diagnosis, & treatment.

• It tells the Phlebotomist how old the patient is.

• It tells the Phlebotomist that the patient is always sick.

The blood pH in the body is 7.35-7.45, if a patient is lower than 7.35, they are considered to have:

• alkalosis

• neutral

• acidosis

A patient who has been diagnosed with Gout, possible will have an elevated:

• potassium level

• sodium level

• pH level

• uric acid level

What lab value causes major issues with the heart? It is also used in the lethal injection?

• phosphorus

• chloride

• potassium

• TSH
