This year we have learnt that reading is

When we use Active Reading strategies we

• are aware of what is happening in our mind as we read.

• become better at undersanding a text.

• learn what why we like or dislike a book.

When we first begin to read a fictional text we

• connect

• visualise

• question

• criticise

When you make a text to text connection you are

• Remembering an event that happened to you.

• Remembering some similiar information you have come across in another text (Television program / film / novel etc).

• Not remembering anything.

• All of the above.

The term to describe what happens as you read and you see a 'movie-in-your-mind'.

• Visualizing

• Creating

• Dreaming

• Seeing

When you visualise, you

• Think about what you want to do on the weekend.

• Think about what you're going to have for lunch.

• Make predictions about what you think is going to happen next.

• Use all your senses: Sight, Sound, Touch, Taste and Smell.

Good readers know that whey they read they also question as they read. This happens

• only when they look at the book cover.

• after they have finished reading the book.

• before, during and after reading the book.

• only when the teacher asks you to think of a question.

There are two types of questions as we read;

• Quick and deep

• Short and sharp

• Easy and difficult

• Right and wrong

What is not a textual feature found in the page layout of a non-fiction book?

• Pictures, diagrams, illustrations, charts, graphs & maps.

• Punctuation marks.

• Font choice, size and colour, bold or italics.

• Headings, sub-headings and Index page.

When we read non-fiction and we are looking for specific information we
