S.E.L- Social Awareness: Perspective Taking

Perspective taking means

• being able to understand the feelings of others and see situations from their points of view

• looking down on someone

• knowing how we feel and what happened to us personally is the only thing that matters

Perspective taking is important because

• it helps us know when someone is overreacting and can be ignored

• it allows people to have more empathy, care, and understanding for what others are going through and feeling

• it tells us who is right and who is wrong in a situation

When someone tries to take your perspective, it makes you feel

• not cared about

• listened to, understood, and cared about

• left out

You can be a good friend and take the perspective of another by

• doing your thing and ignoring how it might make others feel

• telling them how you feel so they feel the same

• putting yourself in their shoes and thinking about how you would feel if you were them
