Grounding

• A liquid-tight tank for the temporary retention of body (black-water) or liquid waste (grey-water).

• A visual magnetic gauge responding to an internal float to indicate the approximate quantity of fuel in a propane container.

• A conducting path between an electric circuit or equipment and the earth, or some conducting body serving in place of the earth (chassis).

• A vent connecting one or more individual vents with a vent stack.

Water Column

• The name commonly applied to the body waste holding tank receiving waste from the toilet on an RV.

• An arrangement of conductors and devices connected together for the purpose of carrying an electrical current.

• Abbreviated as W.C., it is a unit measurement used for expressing pressure (27.7 in. W.C. = 1 psi).

• The creation of surface indentations caused by one metal pressing onto another under heavy pressure.

Manual Disconnect

• A pipe or fitting that forms an angle of 45° or less with the horizontal.

• Amount propane expands for every 10 degrees it is warmed.

• A joint or connection that can be disassembled without tools.

• The inclination from the vertical of the steerable wheels of an automobile.

Underbody

• That part of the faucet covered by the shield, which contains the working members of the faucet.

• The scale of temperature measurement in the metric system of units. It is based on the freezing point of water at 0° and boiling point at 100°, standard pressure conditions.

• To subject (glass or metal) to heat and slow cooling to toughen and reduce brittleness.

• The hardening of a belt surface caused by excessive heat buildup due to friction.

Body Waste

• The creation of surface indentations caused by one metal pressing onto another under heavy pressure.

• The device that consumes power in an electrical circuit. (4-2 pg.19)

• The lowest end of a main or secondary drain to which a sewer connection is made.

• The discharge from any fixture, appliance, or appurtenance containing fecal matter or urine.

Alternating Current (AC)

• A clear, yellowish liquid used as a deodorizer, antiseptic, and disinfectant.

• An electrical device located in the float gauge assembly that transmits an electrical signal to an internal readout on the monitor panel located inside the RV that indicates the level of propane in the container(s).

• Electrical current that reverses polarity at a regular rate (frequency).

• The result of an improperly purged container, where air in the container is pushed to the top of the container and compressed, yielding an excessive pressure reading.

Diode

• A solid-state device that allows current flow in only one direction.

• Temporary wiring used for checking electrical systems. (Glossary pg.g)

• Metal link that melts from excessive current and opens circuit.

• A vent that also serves as a drain for one or more fixtures.

Dip Tube

• The unobstructed vertical distance through the free atmosphere between the opening from any pipe or faucet supplying potable water to a tank, plumbing fixture, or other device and the flood-level rim of the receptacle.

• A term used to describe the automatic closing of an excess flow check valve. The closing or "______________" occurs when the liquid or vapor flow rate exceeds the excess flow valve's designed capacity.

• The vent stem of a DOT/TC shutoff valve assembly that extends into the cylinder to the 80% full level. Excess liquid is vented through the bleed port. The length of the stem is marked on the guard of the cylinder.

• The flow of water or other liquids, mixtures, or substances into the distributing pipes of a potable supply of water from any sources other than its intended source.
