Why is Moose's Mom so happy at the beginning of chapter 28?

• She got a new job.

• Natalie was accepted to the school.

• There was a positive newspaper article about the Ester P. Marinoff School.

• Moose got a good report card.

What did Moose want to tell his parents?

• He got a bad grade in English class.

• That Natalie had contact with a convict.

• He wanted to tell them about the laundry scheme.

• He wanted to tell them he likes Piper.

Why was Moose mad at the end of chapter 28?

• He didn't get ice cream for dinner.

• His Mom told him he couldn't take Piper out

• Piper wouldn't leave him alone.

• His Mom made it sound like he was sitting in the house with Natalie every day instead of taking her out.

In the text on page 155 it states, "My Mom has taken off her green hat and her green coat and she has begun to make supper. Every minute or so she comes back to the table to read a part of the article again. It's as if the newsprint is warm and my mother's hands are very cold." What does this show?
