1.4.7 Managing safety during lessons

How can you keep swimmers safe in your lessons?

• Count the number of students throughout the lesson

• Take students straight to the deep end

• Talk to the other teachers

• Take the register at the start

• Ensure parents are nearby in case of emergencies or toilet breaks

1.4.8 Swimming pool and lesson rules. Which of these are correct pool rules?

• Chewing gum and food can go in the pool

• Anyone can dive in the deep end
