Why is Simon's face red?

• From a nose bleed

• From where he smacked it on the rock when he fainted

• he is sunburned

• It's not really red, it is symbolically red

• He is really the Mulberry Boy

What is discovered at the top of the mountain in this chapter?

• That help is on the way via a British naval ship

• That a fearsome monster wishes to devour the children

• That Jack is planning a rebellion against Ralph

• That the beast the children fear is really just a dead parachutist

What does Simon do to the beast?

• punches it

• stabs it with his knife

• gets scared and runs away

• unties him

• screams at it until he grows faint (but before he passes out)

What are Simon's intentions going down the mountain and searching for the boys?

• To tell them that the beast is really a dead pilot
• To tell them he found a way to start another signal fire
• To tell them he found the pigs' hideout spot so they can hung more pigs
• To tell them he is starting his own group away from everyone else

At the feast, how does Jack appear?

• In his choir uniform

When Ralph and Piggy come to the feast, what does Jack do?

Why do Piggy and Ralph join the dance?

• Because they feel safe and secure in the group

• Because Jack threatened them

• Because Jack dared them to stay and they didn't want to look weak

• Because they were scared to go back to the beach alone
