Tourette syndrome is a neurological desorder.

It is characterized by sudden repeatitive movements or sounds called tic that some people make without realizing it.

The disorder is named after Dr Georges Gilles de la Tourette, a French neurologist who in 1885 first describes the condition in an 86 year old French woman.

The early symptoms of Tourette syndrome are almost always noticed first in childhood, with the average onset from the ages of 7 and 10 years.

Tics are classified as either simple and complex.

Simple motor tics are sudden, brief, repetitive movements like esagerated eye blinking.

Simple vocal tics are frequent, repeated throat-clearing. Complex motor tics might resulted in self-harm.

Tourette syndrome can be a cronick condition with symptoms lasting a lifetime.

Tourette syndrome is not kontegious.

Studies suggest that Tourette Syndrome is a genectick disorder.
