I think that farming is an attractive career.  I was attracted to it because I love to be outside.  I also enjoy running the tractor.  When I’m on the tractor, I can distract my mind from the stresses of life.

Although farming is hard work, it does not detract from the joy I feel when I extract vegetables from the ground.  I have so much land that I subcontract part of it out so others can enjoy farming, too.  Each subcontractor signs a contract to take good care of the land.

Maybe you will be attracted to farming as well!

The doctor subscribed to a medical magazine.  There was an article that asked readers to respond detailing the strengths and weaknesses of specific prescriptions.

The doctor explained her viewpoints to her assistant who transcribed for her.  She didn’t mind doing this task since she only wanted to prescribe medications that she felt good about.  She gave descriptive information so the prescriptions could be improved.

The Panama Canal, the historic 48-mile waterway, connects the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans for some of the largest ships in the world to import and export goods at ports up and down the Eastern Seaboard and other parts of the world. 

The Panama Canal recently completed an expansion project that deepened and widened the channels for the biggest of ships to use this cut-through waterway.  It was an opportunity to bring in thousands of employees in the new mega-terminal as they help ships transport their cargo through the old and new locks system.  Luis Ferreira, an engineer and spokesman with the Panama Canal Authority, reported that the expansion project workers excavated 5.5 billion feet of material and poured 155 million cubic feet of concrete over the course of the expansion project. 

Historian David McCullough wrote in his account of the canal's building, The Path Between the Seas,”the Panama Canal has affected the lives of tens of thousands of people at every level of society and of virtually every race,"  and “for numbers of men and women it was the adventure of a lifetime" to help support this important structure that has impacted global trade for over 100 years.

The dance competition was this past weekend. In order to score the highest marks from the judges, the dance team had to complete their routine in the smoothest, uniform fashion, with high attention to detail.

One dancer had a deformed foot, but that did not stop her from doing the complex routine.

The dance team was able to transform the music into a beautiful story. They amazed all of the other teams with their dance formations.

Jamal and I decided to take a train ride up the west coast from Portland, Oregon to Seattle, Washington.  The train conductor took time to introduce himself to all of the passengers when they arrived at the station.  He took a moment to educate us on how the train operated before we boarded the train. We used our cell phones to show our electronic tickets in an effort to reduce the waste of paper.

We visited the dining car to grab a snack to eat on our ride.  It surprised us that there were so many products available from which to choose.  We paid for our snacks and returned to our seats to enjoy the view while we traveled.

The conductor and the train staff conducted themselves in the most professional manner.  Jamal and I thought this was a great introduction to traveling by train and want to take another train trip for another wonderful experience.
