Car Care - Theory Review

When entering a car from the street side,

• check for traffic to the right.

• approach from the front of the car.

• hold the door open to protect yourself.

• approach from the back of the car.

Hold the steering wheel with

• one hand outside at the bottom and the other inside at the top.

• your hands on the bottom half of the wheel.

• your palms pointing upwards.

• your hands on the outside of the wheel at 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock

If your check engine light comes on while driving.

• Take your car to a certified tech to see what is wrong.

• Keep driving and see if it goes off by next week some time.

• Put black tape over the light so you can’t see it.

• Stop. Open the hood, and look at the engine.

The area to the rear of the car not seen in mirrors is

• not necessary for driver vision.

• seen by adjusting mirrors.

• a blind spot.

• directly behind the car.

A properly adjusted safety belt

• fits loosely across the body and tightens during a collision.

• fits snugly across the hips and comfortably across the chest.

• restricts the upper body from moving.

• restricts breathing and circulation.

As you back your vehicle straight, your right arm should be over the back of the seat so you can

• see out of both side windows.

• see through the rear window.

• eliminate blind spots.

• learn to steer with one hand.
