When we were in Paris last month, we walked along the Promenade Plantee. Do you know it? It's a park now, but a hundred years ago it was a train line. The line closed, and then in 1988 two men planned a public garden for the space. They planted trees and flowers and created a beautiful long path. Away from the crowds and traffic, it was hard to believe we were in the middle of the city.
