Operational Definitions

Tantrum: Loud outbursts that may include any of the following: Yelling, banging on furniture, stabbing books with supplies, throwing self on ground, and/or posturing as if he is going to hurt someone.

Complaining: Making annoying statements/comments about a task.

Disruptive Behavior: Disrupting the learning of others in class.

Complaining: Any instance of verbal refusal, whining, protesting, and swiping papers off his desk as a response to demands being presented.

Noncompliance: Not following directions.

•

Disruptive Behavior: Any instance of shouting out off topic comments during a lesson/independent work, singing during a lesson/independent work, throwing items to the floor, and/or throwing non-dangerous items at someone else (pencils, paper, etc.).

Noncompliance: Any instance of not following an adult request within 5 seconds of the request being made; includes verbal and nonverbal refusal.

Tantrum: Being upset and loud during a lesson or activity.
