SINT 5: DOM and XPath

DOM is a specification of:

• Tree components and an API interface

• A popular videogame

• A linear list of nodes and attributes

• The contents of a web page

The relation between SAX and DOM is:

• SAX is simpler and based on events
• DOM is based on trees
• DOM is more user-friendly, but needs more memory
• All the others !

XPath allows to:

• Interact with the file system from a browser

• Identify nodes within DOM trees using expressions

• Identify attributes within DOOM nodes

• None of the others !

The XPath syntax is:

• Axis::Node[Atribute]

• Node::Axis[Predicate]

• Axis::Node[Predicate]

• Axis::Predicate[Node]
