This was used through multiple dynasties as a way to ensure a sense of equality and a strong government.

China’s stability and productivity encouraged the growth of trade routes such as the Silk Road. The Silk Road road led to the develop of caravanserai and cities. This helped to encourage global trade, as people had places to stay and trade.
