My Favorite Writer

(1) My favorite writer is Dr. Seuss, who real name was Theodor Seuss Geisel. (2) The first book I ever read was his book Hop on Pop. (3) I remember that my mother and I used to sit to the couch and look at it together. (4) One day I realize I could read it myself. (5) I ran into the kitchen, where my father was baking, and I shouted I can read! (6) Then I started reading more books, like The Cat in the hat. (7) I loved the pictures as much as the words. (8) When I got older, I thought that Dr. Seuss was just for little kids but I was wrong. (9) I found out that he used to draw cartoons for a newspaper many years ago. (10) The cartoons were for adults, and they showed how he felt about world events. (11) I looked back at my old Dr. Seuss books and saw that even in his books for young kids, Dr. Seuss showed how he felt over things. (12) For example. (13) His book The Lorax is about how we might protect the natural world. (14) Even though I've outgrown Hop on Pop, Dr. Seuss is still my favorite writer. (15) His work is funny and not like that of anyone else. (16) Most of all, it makes you think about important ideas. (17) Even while you are laughing.

When I got older, I thought that Dr. Seuss was just for little kids but I was wrong.
