FHSW PD Day - IPE Workshop

Students from several different programs attend a workshop on infection control. Faculty from multiple programs teach the session together. They instruct the students on proper hand hygiene and how to don and doff PPE. The students then practice these skills while receiving feedback from the instructors and their peers.

At home, students watch a video on how to use a standardized communication tool and the value of working within an interprofessional team. They read and prepare a client case from their own profession's perspective. During class, students from multiple professions discuss each other's roles and use the communication tool to reach a consensus on the client's care plan.

A faculty member from one program is a guest lecturer for the students of another program.

During a class with students from their own professional group, students learn about the other professions they are likely to work with once they graduate. Their professor teaches them about other professionals' roles and the challenges and benefits of working with other professions.

Humber students from different programs work in groups on several service-learning projects for students at a local elementary school. The students develop and deliver learning activities for the children. By participating in the project, students learn about and utilize the other student's profession's unique knowledge and skills.
