What is stormwater runoff?

Where does stormwater runoff go?

• It flows into storm drains before emptying out into a nearby body of water.

• The ground soaks it all in as it flows down roads.

• It all flows into storm drains before ending up in a treatment plant.

Is stormwater runoff treated before it goes into our waterways?

• Yes. Before it is treated before to remove all the items polluting it.

• No. It remains untreated and flows directly into our waterways.

Does stormwater pollution only affect the area where trash was littered or does it affect other faraway areas as well?

• It only affects the nearby area because stormwater runoff flows into a nearby body of water.

• It affects faraway areas because what ends up in one body of water may eventually flow into another.
