The Apatosaurus was the largest animal to ever live on land. Its long neck had a tiny head perched on top. It also had a long tail which it used as a whip when it attacked. Due to its size, if it fell, it would have a hard time getting up again. So this dinosaur had five toes on each of its feet to help it stay upright. Since it was so big, when it walked it moved very slowly.

This meant that it walked in a manner similar to us. This huge meat eater could run up to 22 mph. When it went after another dinosaur there was almost no hope of escape. It hunted alone and grabbed its prey with sharp, jagged teeth. Thank goodness these animals have been extinct for millions of years! No one would be safe with these animals around.
