Why do we use Electrical Extension Leads?

• To tie cables together to keep them neat

• To allow electrical extension of plug in appliance to be used

• So we can keep electrical cables together.

• To Allow sign wave to work appliances

Does each end of an extension lead have a male and female socket?

• No. it has two male ends. which allows a reverse connection

• No it has two female ends which allows a 2 way connection.

• Yes it allows one end to plug into a socket and then an appliance can plug into the female socket.

• You can only plug in one way cause two is different

Why is there a loop that we can put the wire around in a plug sock?

• So it can hold a small pulling on the cable without pulling the connection out

• Just allows spare connection for the cable when its pulled to hard

• It is the standard length we use all the time

• It looks better with more cable so more electricity.

In the 3 pin socket does it matter which wire is connected to each pin.

• No It will pass electricity anyway.

• No all one size is important in electrical cables

Will length have a different affect when plugging in appliances?

• Yes. depending on what you are plugging in and how much electricity it uses.

Does the male and females plug sockets have to have clear plastic to see the connections?

• No, any colour is ok.

• On building sites it is required to see damage and correct connection.

• in most house it has to be black in colour.

• You don't use extension leads no more so you don't need plug sockeys

Damaged extension leads are ok as long as its taped up

• Yes a bit of tape fixes the damaged cable.

• Yes as long as there are small cuts and not big cuts in the cable.
