By Code requirements, a trap depending on movable parts to retain its seal may:

• be used for fixtures with clear water waste only
• not be used under any circumstances
• be used if first approved by the Plumbing Official
• be used when approved by ASME Standards

• residential lavatory imps
• commercial sink traps
• stall shower traps
• barber shop sink traps

According to the Code, the smallest trap that may be made for a floor drain is:

• 2 inches
• 2 1/2 inches
• 3 inches
• 4 inches

According to the Code, 3-inch cleanouts must be accessible and have a minimum clearance (for cleaning purposes) of no less than:

• 6 inches
• 12 inches
• 18 inches
• 24 inches

According to the Code, line cleanouts should be so installed and arranged that:

• only special cleaning tools may be used
• special cleaning tools may not be required. grease-dissolving fluids may be easily added
• view
• upstream and downstream rodding is possible

According to the Code, the integrity of a trap seal is protected by:
