How do I change the background of a map?

• Select a different basemap (ex: imagery features and other points of view)

• Add a layer to customize the style

• Adjust the zoom level with the + and - buttons on the bottom right corner

• Use magnifying glass icon to search and navigate

Give me an example of a geospatial question.

How do I find out WHEN an earthquake happened? (ex: on my birthday)

• Filter by time. You need to click on the clock icon after events by magnitude and use the time slider to pick a date.

• Click on a point and a pop-up will show the date and time.

• Search by address to find the one closest to where you live

• Use a seismograph to measure the intensity (how strong it is)

Give me an example of a tech norm. (ex: classroom rule we have about our devices)

How do I add layers?

• Click on the layers icon and dropdown to search the living atlas

• Change the basemap

• Go to the properties panel and enable time

• Click on the pop-up or clock icon

• Why are the maps cut off with white space?

• A glitch

• It's a map abstraction of reality. It's taking a 3D global sphere and putting it on a 2D surface.

• Not enough storage

• Data is not available or is still loading

What pattern did we notice about earthquakes after we added a tectonic plate layer?
