In Chapter 1 we read about Naomi and her family ( Elimelech and her 2 sons) ran from the famine in their land to the land of Moab, her husband died and her 2 sons married 2 women from Moab and this against the Law of God told them to marry from His people not from the other nations who worship the idols. Her 2 sons died, and she decided to go back to her people. Ruth: one of her daughters-in-law insisted to go back with her, as she was so loyal to her.
In Chapter 2, Naomi & ruth live in the land of Judah. Ruth went to the field to gather the fallen heads of grain from Boaz’s field; one of Naomi’s relatives.
Boaz asked about her, he talked with her, and he found favor in his sight. He complimented what she did to her mother-in-law and that she stayed with her, and he allowed her to stay in his field and get whatever she needs. Ruth told Naomi about what happened, and she told her to stay in his field until the harvest time is done, and they thanked God.
In these 2 chapters, we see how Naomi was a good example that Ruth saw God’s love in her and she decided to stay with her; Naomi’s people will be her people and Naomi’s God will be her God.
We also need to show God’s love in us to others, to lead them to know Christ. We also learn how God blesses Ruth’s life for her loyalty to her mother-in-law and because of this Boaz was so generous with her. Naomi & Ruth gave thanks to God at the end of their day for all what He granted them. We learn to see God’s hand in our life and how he facilities things for us and thank Him for the good things He gives us.
