Wood Shop Safety

Safety is the most important aspect of your woodworking experience. Pay close attention to the instructions and demonstrations given by your instructor.

MARGIN OF SAFETY is the distance that needs to be maintained between your hands and the blade.

You do not need to wear safety glasses when working in the woodshop area cutting wood.

Do not operate any machine or tool if you are tired, dizzy, upset, worried, or in a hurry.

Machines must not be used if the instructor is called out of class.

Keep the shop neat and clean by doing your individual clean up job.

When using a sharp tool, be sure you always cut towards yourself.

The operator needs machine specific training to operate dangerous machinery.

If solvent or some kind of chemical splashes in your eye, immediately flush it out with water.

If you see someone violating a safety rule, let them know about it because it is your responsibility to help maintain a "Culture of Safety".
