MULTIPLE CHOICE QUESTION

2 mins • 1 pt

You just found out that you have a math test on Friday. That was after the pop quiz you just finished taking. You also realize that you have a Shakespeare test in English on Friday as well. Your heart hasn't stopped racing since you went to class and turned in your quiz. Now that you think about the other exams, it probably never will.

Many students feel the same way. Sometimes, exams and tests can be a terrible source of anxiety and frustration. However, a good way to combat this is to have a plan ready.

First, take clear classroom notes. Notetaking is the best way to remember what was taught in the classroom.

Notetaking and budgeting your time inside and outside of class is a good way to keep your cool and relax when it's time to study or take a test. Be prepared, and don't be scared.

Based on this passage, which of the following would be needed to improve on the tips to taking better notes? (RL 6.1)

If your teacher writes the notes on the board, that's a bonus. Copy them down as he or she speaks. Write down the most important points and detailed information that the teacher emphasizes like the name, place, or date of an important event.

One way to ensure quiet when studying with a group is to do it in the library; you'll be forced to keep things more low-key than if you're all at someone's kitchen table.

Again, as with homework assignments, it can seem like a pain to ask about it after class, but it's much easier than wondering if you got the right notes as you study that night!

In the end, it comes down to what works best for you. If you like to study alone and feel most confident about doing it that way, then it's fine.

MULTIPLE CHOICE QUESTION

2 mins • 1 pt

Immanuel enjoyed fishing on his days off of school. His friends did not understand what he saw in fishing; they just thought it was boring. For years, Immanuel had watched his father fish in every type of water. His father was a master angler and was able to catch a fish under any condition just using his fishing pole. He seemed to have a knack of knowing where all of the active fish were. These fish were feeding often and were easy to catch. Most often, Immanuel and his father used a jig to lure the fish to them. Some of the best ones they had were dressed up in hair because they looked like live bait. Fishing brought Immanuel and his father together; Immanuel wanted to be like his father when he grew up.

HINT...look at the structure of the sentence that uses (angler). Think about what part of speech the word (angler) is being used as in that sentence.

Based on the context of the passage, what is an angler? (RL 6.4)

a method of catching fish in any type of water

a nice way to say that something is too boring like fishing

a disagreement that is between school friends

a person who fishes with a rod, line, and hook

MULTIPLE CHOICE QUESTION

2 mins • 1 pt

Bryan lay in bed, very sick, with a thermometer extending from his mouth and a cool, wet rag resting on his forehead. The curtains were drawn shut, but because they were thin, sunlight still streamed into the room. Bryan's eyes ached from the glare. His mother was running a humidifier in the room, causing the air to be thick and wet. Bryan was sure this air was much harder to breathe than normal air, but his mom insisted. She had rubbed mentholated gel under his nose and on his chest, and the vapors made him nauseous. I can't take it, Bryan thought to himself. I'm going to have to do something!

Bryan's mother walked into the room and withdrew the thermometer from his mouth. "How are you feeling?" she asked.

"Better," Bryan replied, trying to smile. "Think I'll be ready to go to school after lunch!"
