Chip

• Controls communication with peripherals

System clock

• Sends out signals to measure and synchronize the flow of data.

• A device that measures the system's temperature
• A device that controls the system's power supply
• A device that monitors the system's memory usage

Registers

• High-speed units of memory to store and control the data.

Multiplexing

• Places where additional features like sound or memory can be fixed

• The fixed interval a system clock sends out its signals.

• One bus into which the data bus and address bus are sometimes combined on small CPUs. Measured in gigahertz (GHz)
