What is a Design Brief?

• An explanation of the materials you will use, including details about size, shape and texture.

• A letter selling you a product from a specific supermarket.

• A description of what you are going to design and make including how it will work.

• The profile of a specific person or group of people that the produce will be used by.

What is a list of design criteria?

• Contains the customers personal information

• Explains the specific details about an existing product

• Outlines where in the world the produce will be stored

What is a mechansim?

• Parts of an object that move together.

• Parts of an object that attach to each other.

What is a prototype?

• The final product that will be manufactured and sold in the shops.

What is an exploded-diagram?

• Used to illustrate how different parts of a product fit together.

• Displays all components of a product from above.

• Demonstrates how a product will fit inside the packaging.

What are material properties?

• A description of how the material looks

• The weaknesses of a material

• Words that describe the material's form and function

What are the material properties of softwood (pine)?

What is a cutting template used for?
