How can we safeguard the residents during the event?

If a resident asks for you to lift them up to help them stand, what should you do?

• Lift them up to help them stand.

• Politely explain that you can't lift them up as it could harm your back from doing so.

• Make sure the resident has any equipment required for them e.g. their zimmer frame.

• Speak to member of staff who knows the resident well.

What should you in the event of a fire alarm?

• Treat information about the residents confidentially.

• Use any technology responsibly.

• Read the notes of the residents.

• Discussing information about the residents outside of the care home i.e. on the tram.

How can we ensure infection control procedures are being followed?

• Read information on the posters around the care home.

• Disposing of PPE in the household/ general waste bin.

• Not using the correct handwashing technique.

• Making sure residents who have infectious conditions remain isolated during the event.

How can we ensure we are handling food hygienically and safely?

• Touching food without washing our hands.

• Using incorrect chopping boards such as chopping vegetables on a red chopping board.

• Not washing down work surfaces before and after preparing food.

• Adhering to dietary requirements such as allergies, specific diets (vegetarian/ vegan), religious requirements (Halal/ Kosher).
