First aid is....

• First aid is the emergency or immediate care of an injured or sick person until they can receive full medical care and treatment

First aid is a very important skill to have as it can

• save a persons life

• make a persons life more difficult

• teach the victim skills

Who can provide first aid?

• A construction worker

• A certified first aider or health professional

What is in a basic first aid kit?

• Food, water, plasters

• Plasters, books and scissors

• Plasters, gauze, sterile eye pad, wound dressings

What should you do FIRST when attending the scene of an emergency?

• look for danger

• approach danger

• wait and see what happens

Why is your safety, as a first aider, so important?

• It is not as important as the person you are trying to help

• If you as a first aider are hurt, you are unable to help the victim

A hazard is.....

• A situation or thing that has the potential to cause harm to a person

• Everything that you can see

Examples of hazards include

• traffic, unstable electric lines, fire

• food, water, people

• trees, pavements and people
