As travel to Antarctica becomes easier because of technological advancements, more and more scientists are venturing to the arctic pole to learn more about this seldom studied biome. These recent expeditions have allowed scientists to shed new light on the composition of the arctic soil, which they recently found to have high concentrations of minerals. The climatogram shows data collected on a recent expedition to study the intricacies of this environment.
Two scientists from the expedition are debating whether Antarctica should be classified as a desert or a taiga. They have compiled the data (see data table) to help determine which biome it should be classified into.
Propose whether Antarctica should be classified as a desert or a taiga. Provide justification for your response.
