Why do we do ROM exercises?

• to maintain the health of the musculoskeletal system

• the resident's family asked for it.

• the patient refuses to walk to dinner.

• to help improve the patient's morale.

What are Active ROM exercises?

• performed by patients who are able to move each joint without assistance

• the patient actively moves the joints but receives assistance to complete the entire ROM

• another person moves each joint for a patient who is not able to exercise

What are Passive ROM exercises?

• another person moves each joint for a patient who is not able to exercise

• the patient actively moves the joints but receive assistance to complete the entire ROM
