MULTIPLE CHOICE QUESTION

45 sec • 1 pt

When you receive a new assignment, what's your process for breaking it down and budgeting your time?

G10

I immediately enter the due date into my calendar and break the assignment down into smaller tasks with their own mini-deadlines.

I create a checklist of everything I need to do to complete the assignment. Then I estimate how long each part will take me and schedule blocks of time accordingly.

As soon as I get an assignment, I calculate how many days I have until it's due. Then I divide up the work into equal chunks that I can accomplish each day.

I tend to procrastinate, so I have to force myself to start assignments right away. I set aside a little bit of time daily that I dedicate specifically to that assignment.

I don't really budget my time or break down assignments. I just wait until the last minute panic sets in and then try to throw something together the night before it's due.

MULTIPLE CHOICE QUESTION

45 sec • 1 pt

Do you find you work better under the pressure of a quickly approaching deadline or when you have more time?

G10

I actually thrive when a deadline is looming. The pressure keeps me focused and productive, and I do my best work under tight timelines.

I prefer having more time because I tend to take things slowly and carefully. Rushed, last-minute work often means I make mistakes.

While I envy those who work well under pressure, I know myself, and I need deadlines weeks in advance to tackle projects bit-by-bit. If it's down to the wire, I get so anxious I can't function.

Ideally, I operate best with a healthy balance - some pressure from a firm deadline, but enough advance notice to prepare and not feel frantic.

I don't really have a preference between high or low pressure timelines. I just consistently start working on assignments as late as humanly possible no matter how much lead time I have.

MULTIPLE SELECT QUESTION

When you realize a deadline is approaching faster than you anticipated, how do you respond? What do you do? G10

I take a deep breath and try not to panic. I reassess what absolutely must get done by the deadline and what can wait if needed. Then I make a list and tackle one task at a time.

I immediately revise my schedule to maximize the time I have left. I minimize distractions, block off more work time, and get very focused.

I tend to freeze up and struggle to get going. But after venting out my anxiety, I break each assignment down into mini-tasks to make it less overwhelming.

I just disconnect for a bit until I can get a grip emotionally. I know from experience that I can't produce anything worthwhile when extremely stressed out.

Even if I suspect I won't get it all done on time, I start working flat out, ditch any perfectionist urges, and just try to complete what I can.
