Genome - entire set of genetic code RNA/DNA

Genetic Engineering - altering an organism's genes for a specific purpose

Gene Therapy - process of changing a gene to treat a medical disease or disorder. An absent or faulty gene is replaced by a normal working gene.

Recombinant DNA - DNA produced by combining DNA from different sources

Stem Cell Therapy - the use of stem cells to treat or prevent a disease or condition

Pluripotent - cells that are capable of developing into most, but not all, of the body's cell types

Clone - member of a population of genetically identical cells produced from a single cell.

Genetically Modified Organism (GMO) - an organism that has had their original genome modified/changed in some way

Transgenic Organism - term used to refer to an organism that contains genes from other organisms

DNA Fingerprinting - tool used by biologists that analyzes an individual's unique collection of DNA
