Save our cafeteria! As I'm sure you all know, there is a very good cafeteria in the main block of the Student Services building. It has been serving a variety of delicious dishes from all over the world since 1985. Many students have been "guest chefs" over the years, teaching the staff how to make specialties from their countries and, as a result, the menu is full of wonderful exotic items. The cafeteria also offers many healthy options for people who are being careful about their diet, such as diabetics. Also, people who have different food allergies can always find something that they can eat, and even traditional "student" dishes like hamburgers and pizzas are made with the healthiest ingredients. There is no junk food here! Most students have a limited amount of money, and the cafeteria has been able to keep its prices low, mainly because it receives help from local farmers, supermarkets, and food manufacturers, who donate much of the food it needs. In addition, the government has been supporting the cafeteria with financial grants. However, this is all about to change. Because of spending cuts, the government has announced that it will no longer be able to provide money to Student Services for things like our cafeteria, and local businesses say they will not be able to support us if the government cuts spending. We cannot let this happen, so we are arranging a meeting on Monday, June 7th, at 6 p.m. to discuss what can be done. We have invited local businesses and a representative from the council. Tell all your friends about it and make sure that they all turn up so that we can save our valuable cafeteria!
