Social Contract

•  an agreement among the members of a society or between a society and its rulers about the rights and duties of each

• a document we all sign at the age of 18

• an agreement for the people made by the ruler

• A petition made by the people sent to the ruler

Naturalize / Naturalization

• To become a citizen of the world

• To make someone a legal citizen of a country that they were not born in

• To renounce your citizenship formally so you are no longer tied to a country

• to be born on a reservation

Duty / Duties

• To put forth no attention or care in regards to other people

• Actions that must be taken due to debt

• a responsibility to do something because it is legally or morally right to do it

• the desire to take an action based on ones whims

Privilege

• Rights that you are born with because you are human

• A principle that limits the extent of something

• responsibilities that only apply to a select group of people

• a right or advantage that only a small number of people have

Constituent

• The entire population of a given country

• a person represented by an elected official

• leaders who are appointed to positions of power by other leaders

• an individual who is not part of the electoral college

Double Jeopardy

• the act of putting someone on trial twice for the same crime

• The ability to apply to have the decision on a trial reviewed and possibly changed

• The responsibility of citizens to ensure they do not incriminate themselves

• The right of lawyers to ask the same question in different ways to try and get the answer they want out of a witness.

Due Process

• The steps companies must take in order for them to legally fire someone

• a person's right to fair treatment within the rules of a government's legal system

• The mass pressure, harassment, and/or blacklisting used to pressure people to follow popular political beliefs, especially as opposed to communism

• the ability of a person to go beyond the systems put in place in order to quickly decide guilt or innocence.

Self-Incrimination

• when members of governmental entities coerce someone into committing a crime they otherwise would not commit.

• being required to take a lie-detector test

• being threatened into confessing that you have committed a grime

• the act of saying or doing something that shows that you are guilty of a crime

Counsel (attorney)

• one or more of the lawyers taking part in a case or legally representing a person or organization

• a person whose job is to confuse a jury and provide false testimony

• the party responding to the complaint; one who is sued and called upon to make satisfaction for a wrong complained of by another

• A person who belittles the worth of another person or cause

Autocracy

• The quality of lacking strength or power; being weak and feeble

• government in which one person possesses unlimited power.

• A state where sovereignty rests with the people or their representatives, rather than with a monarch or emperor

• Rule by the people, especially as a form of government
