Black History Quiz #2 Feb. 24'

1). Born in 1960, I am the ONLY Black woman with TWO Academy Awards (“Oscars”), which I earned for costume design. Hint- If you saw the Black Panther movies, you have seen my work. 

2). I was the first Black actor to have a leading role in a prime time series. My show, “I Spy” ran for 3 seasons on NBC from 1966 to 1968. My work on the show earned me 3 Emmy awards.

3). This groundbreaking cartoon was the first ever (and only) to have an all Black cast. Premiering on CBS in 1972 and running for 8 seasons until 1985, the show focused on lessons learned from the creator’s  childhood. Hint-the show was created and voiced by the actor from question #2.

4) We were the first Black billionaires, making a fortune by creating the BET Network in 1980.

5). I broke the color barrier in late night talk shows by becoming the first Black host of a syndicated late night talk show. Born in 1956, I am from Cleveland, OH. My signature “woof, woof, woof” chant is a call back to my  roots as a Cleveland Browns fan.

6) I made history by becoming the first Black person to be nominated for and to win an Academy Award. I won in 1940 for my role as “Mammy” in “Gone with the Wind ''.
