Describe the distribution of COVID-19 cases around the world.

The majority of the COVID-19 cases are concentrated in the developed regions, specifically in most parts of Europe and North America where cases are more than 5 million. The less developed regions tends to have fewer cases such as in Africa where most countries have 500000 and below. However, there are also exception where a less developed region such as India has high number of cases with more than 5 million.

It is important because studying a map of different scales allow us to understand the different perspective and issues of each places. For example, when studying a global issue such as COVID-19, it allows us to identify which regions requires additional support and the actions required to help tackle the issue. We can then zoom in to the national level so that we can get into more details about how the issue may differ from different regions within the country. This allows us to tailor different solutions to different regions within the country as each region may experience different challenges. This allows us to channel the necessary resources to places where there are more COVID-19 cases which allows a country to contain the spread.
